The Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) unit is a part of the Finance and Corporate Management Secretariat. We are responsible for all policies, procedures and services relating to the administration of the Access to Information Act and Privacy Act for Western Economic Diversification Canada.

What does this mean for you?

• We receive and respond to all requests submitted under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

• We ensure that our department is complaint with the provisions set out in both Acts and that your rights under these Acts are respected.
• 
  
• We work with you and assist you in understanding how to access records that are held by Western Economic Diversification Canada, and we explain how we administer these Acts and why some information may not be accessible.
• 
  
• We provide advice concerning your right of complaint to the Information Commissioner and Privacy Commissioner.
• 
  
• We monitor and report the Western Economic Diversification Canada’s performance in administering these Acts to Parliament. Our annual reports are found at Departmental Plans and Reports.
