Thank you, Darrell.
Good morning everyone.
To begin, I would like to acknowledge today’s additional speaker, Chief Darcy Bear.
I take great pride in serving as your Member of Parliament for Blackstrap.
Our Government is taking action to ensure that Canada has the innovative and entrepreneurial business environment to ensure we emerge from this recession stronger than ever.
With that in mind, I am pleased to announce that the Government of Canada will invest $92,000 to support Whitecap Development Corporation in assessing the potential to capture Industrial and Regional Benefits (IRB) through the establishment of an industrial park on Whitecap Dakota First Nation.
Funding for this project will assist WDC in hiring a qualified consultant to conduct a technical assessment of a potential industrial parkthat would focus on opportunities in the aerospace and defence industry.
This work will assist potential partners and stakeholders with immediate business opportunities and, if successful, could create 50 new jobs and 10 new businesses on the Whitecap Dakota First Nation.
This initiative is just one example of the many partnerships that Dakota Whitecap First Nation has undertaken for economic development.
Our Government is taking timely, effective and targeted steps to stimulate and sustain our economy.
As Canada’s Economic Action Plan is being implemented across the country, we can see the positive changes right here in Saskatoon and across Saskatchewan.
And while we are already showing signs of recovery, the economy remains Canadians' top priority as well as the Government of Canada’s.
That’s why we are going to complete the roll-out of our Economic Action Plan, return the federal budget to balance and build the economy of the future.
And while Canada is already showing signs of recovery, the recovery is fragile.
Just as the Government of Canada is committed to completing its Economic Action Plan spending, we are equally committed to addressing significant fiscal pressures with the deficit.
That is why Budget 2010 includes a three point plan to bring the budget back to balance.
The success of our Action Plan is a tribute to the partnerships between local, provincial and federal governments.
Rising to these economic challenges, everyone has worked together to safeguard employment opportunities and ensure a speedy, robust, and strong economic recovery.
Budget 2010 aims to contribute to this recovery and sustain Canada’s economic advantage now and for the future.
Together we are all working to build a stronger West for a stronger Canada.
Thank you.
