February 09, 2010
Edgeley, Saskatchewan

Andrew Scheer, Member of Parliament for Regina-Qu’Appelle and Saskatchewan Health Minister and Member of the Legislative Assembly for Indian Head – Milestone Don McMorris announced funding to install water meters in the Hamlet of Edgeley. This project will receive $9,980 in joint federal-provincial funding, under the Building Canada Communities Component.

Installing water meters in the community will increase the service reliability and efficiency of Edgeley’s water treatment plant and distribution facilities.  The Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan will each invest $4,990 in this project. The Rural Muncipality of South Qu’Appelle No. 157 will invest the balance of the funding for an estimated total project cost of $14,970.

Installing water meters in Edgeley will bring a more complete and more efficient water system to local residents,” said MP Scheer. “Working closely with the Province of Saskatchewan on projects like this will help stimulate the economy, create jobs and improve the quality of life for Saskatchewan families.

This investment will benefit the Hamlet of Edgeley and allow for much-needed improvements,” said Indian Head –Milestone and Health Minister McMorris on behalf of Municipal Affairs Minister Jeremy Harrison. “Working with our federal and municipal partners, we are helping ensure Saskatchewan people benefit and that Saskatchewan continues to move forward.

This project is just one example of the commitment of both governments to strengthen the Saskatchewan economy and improve the quality of life for its residents.  The Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan have taken steps to advance projects and flow money faster for targeted infrastructure projects in Saskatchewan communities in the 2010 construction season.
