Winnipeg is moving forward with the Red River Community Centre project thanks to the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, a major job-creating investment from Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
“This is a very important project,
” commented Mrs. Smith. “Our Government recognizes that investing in community centres helps to cultivate the physical and social well-being for the people in our community.
”
This project is going towards replacing a 25 year-old wooden play structure at the Red River Community Centre with one accessible for all children, regardless of physical capabilities.
Funding of $50,000 is provided through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
“As Mayor, I am proud to announce another significant investment in our recreational infrastructure,
” said Mayor Sam Katz. “The City of Winnipeg’s investment of $100,000 will expand upon the quality service Red River Community Centre provides for our citizens,
” said Mayor Sam Katz.
The Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program will invest $500 million in recreational facilities across Canada over a two-year period. It will provide a temporary economic stimulus that will help reduce the impacts of the global recession while renewing, upgrading and expanding recreational infrastructure in Canadian communities.
