The Nose Creek Sports and Recreation Association is moving forward with further upgrades to Cardel Place thanks to the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, a major job-creating investment from Canada’s Economic Action Plan.

Today the Honourable Diane Ablonczy, Minister of State (Seniors) and Member of Parliament for Calgary Nose Hill, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced federal funding for the Cardel Place enhancements, which will create jobs and enhance opportunities for healthy living in northern Calgary.

I’m pleased to announce our Government’s timely support for recreational facilities in Calgary,” said Minister of State Ablonczy. “Today’s investment in Cardel Place will create jobs, while helping to ensure that our community can continue to enjoy the full benefit of the recreational programs and services offered here.

Funding of $231,150 is provided through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.

This federal investment supports renovations to the lobby, pro-shop, information desk, guest services and administrative areas at Cardel Place. Upgrading these service areas will allow the facility to serve its visitors better, ensuring that as the community continues to grow, residents continue to have access to quality recreational infrastructure close to home.

After five successful years and over five million guest visits we recognize we must continue to be on the forefront of change and innovation, programs and services, and facility renewal.” said Sue Scott, General Manager.  “Redeveloping our ancillary spaces is crucial to remaining vital, inspiring and relevant to North Central Calgary communities as they continue to grow. We are grateful for the generous support from the federal government, funding partners and donors.

The Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program will invest $500 million in recreational facilities across Canada over a two-year period. It will provide a temporary economic stimulus that will help reduce the impacts of the global recession while renewing, upgrading and expanding recreational infrastructure in Canadian communities.  A total of almost $153 million in RInC funding will be invested across the four western provinces by Western Economic Diversification Canada.
