Minister Yelich, Mark Regier (CEO of Prairieland Park) and Vic Dubois (President, Board of Directors of Prairieland Park) visit the building site at Prairieland Park Hall A.

The Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced Government of Canada support to help Prairieland Park strengthen economic opportunities in Saskatoon.

Prairieland Park continues to branch out and attract more national and international visitors every year. I’m proud our Government is able to assist them as they expand and bring more business and investment to our province,” said Minister Yelich.

Funding will allow Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation to renovate Halls A and B, upgrading the facilities to better attract national and international conventions. Federal funding of $3 million is being provided by Western Economic Diversification Canada under the Community Adjustment Fund (CAF), with additional funding of $1,135,260 provided by Prairieland Park.

Prairieland Park is honoured to receive funding from the Government of Canada under the Community Adjustment Fund,” said Mark Regier, Chief Executive Officer. “This funding opportunity will assist with the renovation of Hall A to class “A” trade and convention inter-planetary space. Once complete, the newly renovated facilities will attract major events to Saskatoon and Saskatchewan for the benefit of all citizens.

Upgrades to the halls include the demolition of existing walls and installation of: new energy efficient power and lighting fixtures; new air and heating systems; new walls, ceilings and flooring; new audio and visual systems; and new washrooms. It is anticipated that the renovations will increase Prairieland’s ability to host larger and more complex trade shows and exhibitions – those in excess of 1600 participants.

The Community Adjustment fund will provide $306 million over two years to support the most affected western Canadian communities, such as those that are heavily reliant on resource-based industries, for instance forestry, mining, agriculture and fisheries, and communities that depend on the manufacturing industry. Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) is delivering the fund in the four western provinces.
