Status

Through the cost-shared Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund, the federal and provincial governments committed 50 per cent of project costs to renew Saskatchewan’s municipal infrastructure.

While numerous projects are still under construction or planned for completion in 2009, the program is fully subscribed. The Saskatchewan MRIF Agreement was amended in July 2008 extending the project completion date to March 31, 2010 and a program completion date to March 31, 2011.

A new federal infrastructure program "Building Canada" will invest an unprecedented $33 billion towards building a national, modern infrastructure system. For more information, Saskatchewan municipalities are directed to: http://www.buildingcanada-chantierscanada.gc.ca/regions/sk/sk-eng.html
