Western Economic Diversification Canada’s (WD) Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Program (EDP)  assists people living in the Winnipeg area who have a disability and are interested in pursuing self-employment goals. The EDP supports the federal government's ongoing commitment to help reduce barriers and increase self-employment opportunities for Canadians with disabilities.

Who is eligible?

The Winnipeg component of WD’s EDP is specifically designed to benefit individuals living in Winnipeg who have a disability and want to open their own business or need support for an existing one.Description

In Winnipeg,  the Independent Living Resource Centre (ILRC) delivers the EDP on behalf of WD. It provides a range of  business support services to entrepreneurs with disabilities, including:

• Coordinating/facilitating partnerships of cross disability organizations in support of entrepreneurs with disabilities;
• assistance in preparing business plans;
• peer support and networking;
• facilitating partnerships to assist clients to access financing to help start or expand a business;
• provide access to entrepreneurial training
• one-on-one consulting services for businesses in operation and/or businesses in development.

Network partners work at the local level to ensure western Canadians have direct access to information on a wide range of financing alternatives, which will help determine your eligibility for services that best suit your needs.
