Backgrounder: Edmonton Benefits from Investments in Community Infrastructure

Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund

Through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF), the Harper Government is committed to creating jobs and supporting communities through repairs and improvements to existing community facilities. Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) is delivering the Fund in Western Canada with an allocation of $46.2 million over two years.

The La Perle Community Hall and the Rio Terrace Community Centre received the following allocations:

Funding Recipient Project Description Federal Contribution (CIIF)
La Perle Community Hall The recipient has repaired the facility's walls, doors and flooring. Users can expect a modernized space that will continue to offer valuable programs and services to the community. $83,331
Rio Terrace Community Centre The recipient has replaced two portions of the roof of the Rio Terrace Community Centre building. This will help extend the lifespan of this facility, ensuring our future generations have the opportunity to enjoy the Centre for many years to come. $28,770
Total: $112,101
